I wish things could be Free. . But They Are NOT! Rant

So I don’t want to come off sounding like a whiner . . .  or an angry business owner. . .

And I am sure that the people that I am about to talk about will never read this post, or if they do they won’t get what I am saying. . . .

And to anyone that reads this, and thinks “but I always . . . .”  You are not the one that I am RANTING about!

So this is directed at all the people that think it is just fine to “sneak” in and use our WiFi. . but never buy anything!

And the people that think it’s ok to come in use one of our tables to meet a couple of people for an hour. . .but never buy anything!

And the people that come down to meet up with a bunch of friends  for a walk, and ALL use our bathroom. . . but never buy anything!

And the people that come in use our WiFi, and when we ask politely ” can get you anything?”  . .  you say ” in a little while I might get something.” and then sneak out the door 2 hours later . . .but you never bought anything!!!!!

And the people that come in all the time, but only buy something every once in a while when they are confronted, but they make the purchase like we are stealing from them or asking them to pay $50.00 for a cup of coffee!

EERRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!   REALLY!!!!???!!!

So what I want to know is, if it is “just fine” to do this with us. . .. .do they go to a grocery store and say ” well I will buy something tomorrow, but I am going to use this gallon of milk right now!”

Do they go to a car repair man and say” I want this fixed” and when it comes time to pick up the car do they tell the staff there ” well I have paid you before so this time is free.”

Do they go to the Dr office, but bring a bunch of friends along and tell the Dr. ” Hey Doc, I want you to do a check up on all my friends here cause they came with me. But don’t charge them anything for your time and service cause I paid you last time so this time is free”

Do they go to their mortgage company and say  ” hey I paid you last month, so this month is free, and maybe I will pay you next month( if I have to!)”

Do they go to a restaurant and sit there at one of the tables without buying lunch. And when the waitress comes over to get their order do they tell her ” No we are fine”

Now you might think that I am making a federal case out of this, but really this has been going on for a long time. . .and will probably continue to go on no matter what I say or do!   But here is a little perspective :

We do not charge an hourly rate for our WiFi. . . .we just ask that you purchase   something!       We do not charge a meeting space fee. . .we just ask that you and your group purchase something!               We do not bug people every couple of hours to buy something else. . .we just ask that you make a purchase when you come in!

We don’t even have a minimum that you must purchase!!!

So why is it that people think we are free to use and abuse???  We are a business just like any other business, and while we are here to make a profit, we want to have a pleasant environment for all our customers to enjoy.

I guess that my parting thought on this would be for everyone to remember that if you like someplace enough to use it then support it!

And to all of you who ALWAYS make a purchase when you come in. . .
